As Strathtalus has 20 golf courses within a 15 miles radius it is in an excellent position to offer a range of golfing packages and golfing tours in Ayrshire including discount rates for Brunston Castle Golf Course which the Guest House has the privilege to overlook. Ayrshire has had a very strong rambler population for a number of years. The scenery and choice of walks make the perfect combination. Whether you're part of a rambling club or going it alone, the surrounding countryside will meet your needs.
Strathtalus provides an excellent base for walkers interested in the Southern Upland Way or the West Highland Way. There are also a number of organised walks within Ayrshire and surrounding local areas.
The National Cycle Network is only 4 miles from Strathtalus Country Guest House crossing over the Carrick Hills to Crosshill.
Wild-life and Bird-Watching in Ayrshire
Wild-life is in abundance throughout Ayrshire. It is a haven for a huge population of many species. Strathtalus Country Guest House is set overlooking the Carrick Hills where you can often see deer running across the neighbouring golf course, or hawks, buzzards, herons in flight.
Ailsa Craig, or 'Paddy's Milestone' is now an RSPB reserve. The world famous landmark, part of an old volcano, is 10 miles off the coast of South West Scotland and part of the Parish of Dailly, is important for breeding seabirds, in particular 44,000 pairs of Gannets, around 10% of the world population" Strathtalus has recently joined the RSPB, please click on the link to the RSPB site on the left menu for more information.

Strathtalus overlooks the Water of Girvan set at the foot of the Carrick Hills. Anglers have access to fresh water fishing on the Water of Girvan which provides catches of Salmon and Sea Trout. Sea fishing trips to the Ailsa Craig (pictured) are also available on request.
Sailing on the West Coast of Scotland
Sailing is very popular on the West coast of Scotland. Whether you're a complete beginner or an old sea dog, the West Coast can provide you with a fantastic sailing experience. This is mainly due to the stunning scenery and good sailing conditions. There are several marinas within easy driving distance from Dailly and several charter companies offering skippered and non-skippered charters as well as tuition and formal RYA courses.
