
Heart of Beautiful Ayrshire
Strathtalus is situated in the heart of beautiful Ayrshire overlooking the naturally sheltered valley of the ‘Water of Girvan’. Its an area of natural beauty bordered by the rolling Carrick Hills.
There is fshing in the Water of Girvan only 400 yards away, and the river Stanchar is also within easy reach; both offering salmon, sea trout and trout fshing.
The area offers excellent walking; The Carrick Hills are for the serious walker whilst the Galloway Forest Park has much to offer the casual walker. Also the wonderful beaches close by offer great coastal walking too.
Wildlife in the area includes red deer, otters; the Bird life is truly varied with coastal, woodland and moorland species in abundance. The world famous Ailsa Craig is reached from nearby Girvan Harbour and is well worth a visit.
There are many castles and gardens in the area, the most notable being Culzean Castle. The coastal town of Ayr, with its famous race course, is less than 30 minutes drive away offering excellent shopping and dining places.
Ayr is also the home of Robbie Burns and his cottage may be visited in nearby Alloway.
The Isle of Arran, Glasgow with its many attractions, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, The Old Lead Mines, and the highest village in Scotland, Wanlock Head, together with the Dumfries and Galloway coast are well within reach of the local area; accessible within the day. Strathtalus is an ideal base for exploring a wide area of South West Scotland with its magnifcent scenery, coast line and its many sporting attractions.
